Plans and credits

Start with the free plan

What the free plan includes and where its limits are.

You can try Algor without paying anything. The free plan is there so you can create real study material with your own content, see the result, and only then decide whether a paid plan is worth it.

  • 40 credits when you sign up, and then 30 credits per month, forever.
  • PDF files up to 25 pages: with a longer document you choose which pages to use, up to 25.
  • Content up to 50,000 characters per upload.

It is a good way to try mind maps, flashcards, quizzes and summaries made from your own material before you commit to anything.

Understand credits and upload limits

What consumes credits and why uploads have a character limit.

Credits are the unit Algor uses every time the AI creates something new from your content. Each generation, a map, a set of flashcards, a quiz and so on, uses a number of credits that depends on how long and how complex the content is. The more you generate, the more credits you need, and paid plans come with higher credit allowances.

Every upload also has a character limit, which changes with your plan. The limit keeps the quality of the processing high and the use of resources balanced. Paid plans have much higher limits than the free plan.

How credits renew each month

Credits are not a balance that builds up over time. At every renewal your credits are set back to the monthly amount of your plan, whether you had 200 left or none at all. So the question is not whether last month's credits are lost: each month simply starts again from the amount included in your plan.

This works the same way for everyone. With a monthly plan the credits are topped up at each renewal, with a yearly plan every 30 days from the start date of the subscription. How many credits you get back depends on the plan you are on.

Plan credits and extra credits

It helps to keep two kinds of credits apart, because they behave differently. The credits included in your plan renew at every cycle and the ones you did not use do not carry over. Extra credits, instead, do not expire: they stay on your account until you use them.

Extra credits are the ones you buy separately, plus the ones you earn from daily and monthly rewards and from referrals and invites.

Buy extra credits

If you are on a paid plan and run out of credits before the end of the cycle, you can buy extra credits while your subscription stays active. This purchase is not self service in the app: the Algor team handles it, so write to us through the contact form. Credits bought this way are extra credits, so they do not expire.

PackagePrice
1,500 credits€19.90
4,000 credits€49.90
13,000 credits€135
ImportantYou need an active subscription to buy extra credits. They are not available on the free plan.
TipIf you are on the Pro plan, the first thing to consider is moving to Ultra: you get a higher monthly allowance straight away, which is usually more convenient than buying credits every month. If Pro is the right plan for you and this was an exceptional month, buy extra credits instead.

What paid plans include

More credits, longer content and advanced features.

Paid plans unlock unlimited or extended access to tools, credits and advanced features. They let you generate more material, process longer content, and work without the limits of the free plan. With premium plans you can also export your material with the optimised export tool.

They are made for students, creators and teachers who want to go beyond the basics and use Algor as part of their daily work.

Upgrade your plan

How to move to a higher plan and what you pay.

You can move from Basic to Pro, or from monthly to yearly, whenever you need more room. You do not lose what you already paid.

  1. 1Go to the Algor home page.
  2. 2Click the Upgrade button at the top right.
  3. 3Choose the plan you want.
NoteIf your current subscription has not expired yet, the price of the new plan is automatically reduced by the days you have left, so you only pay the difference between the two plans.

Plans for schools and institutions

Custom plans for classes, schools and universities.

Algor supports educational institutions with custom plans for classes, schools and universities. If you are a teacher or an administrator, get in touch and we will share prices, onboarding and tailored solutions.

Payments and invoices

Payment methods

Cards, PayPal and, in Italy, Carta del Docente.

You can pay by card, for example Visa or Mastercard, or with PayPal.

NoteIn Italy teachers can also pay with Carta del Docente. This option exists only in Italy: fill in the dedicated form and we take care of the rest.

After you send the Carta del Docente form

Activation with Carta del Docente is not automatic: our team processes every request by hand and applies the plan to the account indicated in the request. A wait is therefore normal, and we handle each request as soon as we can.

For this reason, check the email address you write in the form: it has to be the one of the Algor account where you want the plan. A different or mistyped address, or an account that is not correctly linked to the request, can hold up or prevent the activation.

NoteAlready sent the form and need help with the activation? Write to us with at least the email address of the account involved and the details that identify your request, for example the date you sent the form.

Download a receipt or request an invoice

Receipts are in your profile, tax invoices are requested with a form.

For the standard receipt of a payment you do not need to write to anyone: every payment you made is in your profile, ready to download.

  1. 1Open your profile page from the bottom left of the app home.
  2. 2Go to Payments History.
  3. 3Download the receipts you need.

If you need a tax invoice instead, for example to claim the expense, send us an invoice request with the form below.

Request a refund

When you are entitled to a refund and how to ask for it.

Before you send the request, check that you are entitled to a refund.

  • Less than 14 days have passed since the payment date.
  • No more than 50 credits have been used on the subscription.

Who handles the refund depends on where you bought the plan. Purchases made directly with Algor, on the web, are handled by Algor. Purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple, and purchases made through Google Play are handled by Google: in those cases you ask the store, and their timings and messages apply.

For refunds handled by Algor, once the refund is confirmed the money usually arrives within 7 to 10 working days, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Subscription and account

Renewal and cancellation

How billing renews and how to stop it.

Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly, depending on what you chose, and they renew automatically. You can stop the renewal whenever you want from your account settings, and nothing is lost right away: the plan stays active until the end of the billing period you already paid for.

  1. 1Open your profile from the bottom left of the app.
  2. 2Go to Subscription.
  3. 3Click Cancel plan.
NoteCancelling the subscription does not delete your account: you keep your account and your material, only the renewals stop. If you keep receiving payment attempts or renewal emails after you cancelled, or after you deleted the account, write to us so we can check it.

A renewal payment failed

What happens to your account and how to get your plan back.

If the renewal of the subscription is not charged correctly, the plan is cancelled automatically and the account goes back to the free version. Nothing you created is deleted, but the paid limits no longer apply.

To keep using the platform as before, sign in, choose the plan you prefer and complete the payment to reactivate it.

Delete your account

Delete it yourself from your profile, and what happens to your subscription.

If you no longer want to use Algor, you can delete your account yourself: open your profile settings, go to the General tab and use the Delete account button.

ImportantDeleting the account permanently removes every file you uploaded and everything you created. Download what you want to keep before you delete it.

Deletion and your subscription

If you subscribed on the web or through Google, deleting the account also cancels the renewal of your subscription, so nothing is charged again.

If you subscribed through Apple, you cannot complete the deletion while the subscription is still active: cancel the subscription with Apple first, then delete the account.

NoteCancelling a subscription does not delete the account. If you only want to stop the renewals, cancel the plan and keep your account and your material.
Help and feedback

Report a problem or ask for a feature

Two ways to reach the team when something does not work.

There are two different things you can send us, and it helps to know which one you are sending. A problem is something that should work and does not behave as expected. A feature request is something Algor does not offer yet and you would like to have.

In the app you find both buttons behind Help, on the home and, on mobile, in the account page. You can also write to us through the contact form on the website.

Report a problem

The more detail you give, the faster we can understand and reproduce what happened. When it applies, tell us:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • The error message, if one appeared
  • A screenshot
  • The device you were using
  • The browser or the app you were using
  • The link to the Set or the content involved, if you have it

Suggest a feature

If what you need does not exist yet, send it as an idea instead. Describe what you would like to do and why it would help you, so the team can weigh it against the other requests.

Common issues and help

I paid or renewed, but my plan is not active

What to check when the subscription you paid for does not show up.

First of all reload the page, or close and reopen the app: the plan is read again at start up. If you still see the free plan, the payment most likely went through on a different account. The subscription belongs to the Algor account you were signed in with when you paid, not to the email address you may have typed at checkout to receive the receipt, and the same is true for purchases made from the apps. Start with these checks.

  1. 1Check which account you are signed in with, and that it is the same one you used to pay. If you have more than one account, sign in again with the other one.
  2. 2Open your account settings.
  3. 3In the Subscription tab, check which plan is active.
  4. 4If it helps, check the Payments History tab as well: the payment appears on the account that made it.
TipIf the Payments History is empty on the account you are in, you are almost certainly signed in with a different account. Try the other email addresses and sign in methods you may have used.

If the payment shows as completed but the plan does not appear, check that you are in the same account you bought it with. Google, Apple and Facebook lead to the same account when they carry the same email address, so also consider any other address you may have used, including the @privaterelay.appleid.com one created by "Hide my email".

If the payment appears in the Payments History and the plan is still not active, contact us with the email address of the account and the receipt or the details of the payment.

I ran out of credits: can I buy more?

Yes, also with an active subscription, by contacting the team.

Yes. With a paid plan you can buy extra credits while your subscription stays active. The purchase and the top up are handled by the Algor team, they are not self service in the app, so write to us through the contact form. Extra credits do not expire: they stay available until you use them. If you already paid and the credits have not appeared yet, contact us with the email address of your account and the receipt.

TipIf you are already on Pro, first consider moving to Ultra: it raises your monthly allowance right away and is usually cheaper than buying credits month after month. Extra credits are the better answer for an exceptional month.

I sent the Carta del Docente form and need help

What to check and what to send us if the activation has not arrived.

The whole procedure is on the payment methods page: start there. Activation is done by hand by our team, so the plan does not appear straight after you send the form.

If you already filled in the Carta del Docente form and the subscription is not active, check that the form carries the correct email address of your Algor account.

If you need help, contact us with at least:

  • first name and last name
  • the email address of your Algor account
  • the voucher code
  • the amount of the voucher
  • the date you sent the request

A feature included in my plan is not available

Check the plan and the usage limits first, then send a report.

It is not always a bug. Start by reloading the page, or closing and reopening the app, then check these three things. Keep in mind as well that some advanced text editing options are only available on desktop.

  • that the right plan is active on the account you are using
  • that the feature is actually included in your plan
  • if the feature uses credits or has usage limits, that you have not reached the limit

If the plan is active, the feature is included and you have not reached a limit, send us a report. The page on reporting a problem lists what is useful to include, for example what you were trying to do, what happened, the error message, a screenshot, your device and browser or app, and the link to the content involved.

I cannot sign in to my account

Try the providers linked to your email, and see when a password can be recovered.

Try any sign in method linked to your email address: Google, Apple and Facebook all lead to the same account when they carry the same address. If your account was created with one of them, it has no Algor password, so you cannot recover one: keep signing in through that provider, and reset the provider password with Google, Apple or Facebook if you forgot it. If instead the account was created with email and password, the password still exists and the link under the password field sends you a reset email. If the problem continues, contact us with the email address of the account.

I signed in but I cannot find my subscription or my materials

Almost always a different account: start from the email address you used.

Start from the email address of the account. Google, Apple and Facebook are linked to the same account when they carry the same email address, so changing sign in method does not normally create a second account. A special case is Sign in with Apple with "Hide my email": the account can be tied to an @privaterelay.appleid.com address that is not your usual one. In that case keep signing in through Apple, and if you are on Android and cannot see the Apple button, sign in from a browser.

If once inside you find neither your subscription nor the materials you had created, you are probably in a different account. Try any other email addresses or sign in methods you use.

If you still cannot find the right account, contact us listing the email addresses you may have used.

A file does not upload or is not processed correctly

Check the format and the limits, then tell us what happens.

First check the format. For normal study material you can use PDF files, Word documents (.doc and .docx) and images, and you can also use links, including YouTube videos. Audio and video files go through the Transcribe feature instead. On the free plan you can use up to 25 pages per PDF: with a longer document, pick the pages you want from the selection screen, up to 25. On a paid plan you can use the whole document. In rare cases a very heavy PDF can still cause trouble, so if you are working with one, write to us and we will check it with you.

If it concerns a single file, try uploading another file of the same type. That tells you whether the problem is that specific document or uploading in general.

If the file meets the requirements and still does not upload or process, contact us with:

  • the format of the file
  • what happens when you try to upload it
  • the error message, if there is one
  • a screenshot
  • the device and the browser or app you are using
